Overview
The Oyster 56 is a Rob Humphreys design built for Oyster Marine in England, first launched in 1996. SAIL’s Peter Nielsen called it the yard’s most popular model: small enough for two people to handle, big enough to cross an ocean quickly and comfortably, and a regular class winner in rallies.
Design and Construction
sailboatdata.com lists a fin keel with a skeg-hung rudder, 57.33 ft overall on a 47.5 ft waterline, 16.17 ft of beam and 7.83 ft of draft. Displacement is 57,320 lb with 17,460 lb of ballast, and the cutter carries about 1,418 sq ft.
Ocean Passages
Two Ravens finished the Atlantic leg of ARC+ 2025, from Mindelo in Cape Verde to Grenada.
Buyers Notes
John Neal rates Oysters 4 of 5: attractive, expensive and good quality, with weak resale on the larger models that makes them a good used buy.
