The Island Packet 42 MS is a motorsailer introduced by Island Packet Yachts of Largo, Florida, in 2025 and designed by the builder’s in-house team.
Design and Construction
The builder gives 44 ft overall on a 34 ft 9 in waterline, 13 ft of beam and 4 ft 10 in of draft, with 10,000 lb of ballast in a 33,000 lb displacement. The Solent-style rig carries a mainsail and working jib of 633 sq ft, with a reacher for light air. A 110 hp Yanmar drives it under power, and standard tanks hold 180 gal of fuel and 130 gal of water.
Buyers Notes
John Neal rates Island Packet 4 of 5: roomy and comfortable, with good tankage and storage but some unusual features. His chainplate caution applies to boats built before 1998, not to this model.
