John Neal's Boats to Consider for Ocean Cruising lists the Oyster 49, rated 4 of 5: 'Attractive, expensive and good quality. Weak resale value on larger models makes these a good choice to purchase used.'

Overview

The Oyster 49 is a Rob Humphreys design built by Oyster Marine in England, with fifteen launched between 2001 and 2007. It followed the Oyster 485 with a longer waterline, more interior volume and a more powerful rig.

Design and Construction

Oyster gives 50 ft 6 in overall on a 43 ft 9 in waterline, 15 ft of beam, 7 ft 3 in of draft and 45,745 lb displacement. The layout has six berths in three cabins under a centre cockpit.

Buyers Notes

John Neal rates Oyster 4 of 5: attractive, expensive and of good quality. Resale values are weak on the larger models, which he says makes them a good boat to buy used.
