Overview
The Dufour 31 is a Michel Dufour design launched in 1973, and one of the yard’s most successful boats, with over 900 sold. Its clipper bow makes it easy to pick out.
Design and Construction
Neal notes that Dufours of this period have solid hulls and balsa-cored decks. sailboatdata.com lists a fin keel with a skeg-hung rudder, 30.83 ft overall on a 23 ft waterline, 10.5 ft of beam and 5.67 ft of draft, with 3,696 lb of ballast in a 9,600 lb displacement. The masthead sloop carries about 395 sq ft.
Under Sail
Yachting Monthly calls it a cruiser-racer in its day whose powerful masthead rig gives fast cruising performance.
Buyers Notes
John Neal rates it 2 of 5. Check the balsa-cored deck (see Known Issues). Down below there are six berths and about 6 ft 3 in of headroom.
