Overview
The Hinckley 41 Competition is a Henry Hinckley sloop built from 1968 to 1975, with 9 built. It uses the standard Hinckley 41 hull and interior.
Design and Construction
The Competition version swaps in a spade rudder, a heavier keel and a taller rig. It is 41.17 ft overall on a 29.83 ft waterline, with 10.25 ft of beam and 6.16 ft of draft. It displaces 19,000 lb with 8,000 lb of lead ballast, a ballast ratio of 42 percent, and carries about 729 sq ft of sail.
Buyers Notes
John Neal rates the Hinckley range 3 of 5: classic lines and top construction quality, with modest tankage and storage. Only 9 were built. The spade rudder gives up the protection of the standard boat’s layout, so inspect the rudder post and bearings.
