Sailboat Guide (sailboat.guide) is an online sailboat specification database covering thousands of production sailboat models. It provides standardized specs (LOA, LWL, beam, draft, displacement, ballast, sail area, and design ratios) for a wide range of production boats from the 1960s through the present.
PassageBoats used Sailboat Guide as a secondary source to fill specification gaps where the primary source (BlueWaterBoats.org) was incomplete or where a boat was sourced from AtomVoyages or race data and had no existing spec record. Where multiple sources disagreed on a spec, the discrepancy was noted and the more conservative or better-cited figure was used.
The data/sailboat-guide-paths.json file in this repository maps each PassageBoats boat slug to its path on sailboat.guide, enabling quick cross-referencing for spec verification.
How this source was used
Where BlueWaterBoats.org omitted a measurement or where cross-checking revealed inconsistency, sailboat.guide was used as the tiebreaker or fill-in source. LOA, displacement, and ballast were the most common gaps.
Displacement/length ratio, sail area/displacement ratio, and ballast ratio calculations were verified against sailboat.guide's computed ratios where available to catch spec transcription errors.
For the 38 new boats imported from AtomVoyages (2026-07-01), sailboat.guide provided initial spec candidates that are flagged for verification against manufacturer records.
Sailboat.guide contains no buyer notes, offshore assessments, or design commentary. It was used exclusively for measurable specifications, never for opinions or ratings.
